Final Essay
What’s good about South Central is that everybody gets along. It doesn’t matter what race you are. I do like going to school in South Central. I like going to school here because I get to meet people from different races and I also have a lot of friends. Sometime their is people that want to scare you. The schools in South Central are good because the teachers care about your grade in class and they also want to prepare you for your future. Something that can improve is drugs and gang violence.
The first event that has made South Central what it is today is Gang History. It’s important because now, gangs make the community look bad. They bring a lot of violence into the community. If there was no gangs, the community would be more peaceful and people wouldn’t be scared of walking on the streets anymore. Gangs also make people wanna move from South Central because they are scared that something might happen to them or to their family. I chose this event because it really has changed South Central L.A.
The second event that has made South Central what it is today is the Crack Epidemic. It’s important because crack has destroyed and separated a lot of families in L.A. It has destroyed families because they want to spend all their money on buying drugs. They don’t have enough money to support their families so they just keep doing what their doing. Drugs have also killed a lot of people. I think if there was no drugs, South Central L.A would be more nicer because their wouldn’t be people on the streets asking for money. I chose this event because a lot of families right now are separated or destroyed because of crack.
The third event that has made South Central what it is today is the L.A Riots. It’s important because the L.A Riots Started off because of a black man named Rodney King. He was pulled over in Lake Terrace in the San Fernando Valley for speeding at 110 mph. The white officers pulled him out of his car and started beating him for at least 15 minutes. When the people saw this on the news, they got mad because the officers were found “not guilty”. They started causing a lot of damages, burning down stores, and a lot of people were killed and injured. L.A Riots spread to other stated like San Francisco and Chicago. I chose this event because this all started because of a speeding driver.
In conclusion, Gang History had changed South Central because it increased crime rate. The second event, Crack Epidemic has also changed South Central because it has destroyed and separated a lot of families. It also increased incarceration rate. The last event that changed South Central were the L.A Riots because it left a lot of damages and people killed. I think South Central in the future will be the same or probably even worse.
